Windows Live Messenger has long been a staple of the Microsoft family in various incarnations over the years. Soon, though, Windows Live Messenger will retire to make way for Skype. Skype was acquired by Microsoft in the Spring of 2011. Since then, they have struggled with how to integrate Skype into other services. They have focused on building Skype on its own before making the big announcement to retire Windows Live Messenger. On March 15, 2013, Skype will be the way you communicate in Microsoft Windows.
